Schools to Stage: A Ticket to Opportunity
Bring Schools to Stage to your community!
Miners Alley invites Colorado teachers and students to learn more about how theatre works!
With our Schools to Stage program, students can see a live performance by professional theatre-makers at our Performing Arts Center, then meet the artists involved in the show. This program serves Title I schools in Colorado at no cost to the school or the students. (Other schools are welcome to take part, too – contact us for details.)
We can also bring one of our productions for young people right to your school, free of charge.
Study guides with pre- and post-show activities connect our shows to your classroom. Activities align with Colorado Academic Standards for curriculum in Drama, Reading, Writing, and Communicating.
We’d love to share these wonderful shows with your students! Let’s talk about how Schools to Stage can work with your school group.
Big stage. Big impact.
We believe theatre is for everyone. Studies show that exposure to theatre improves essential skills like empathy, leadership, and academic success. In addition, the theatre provides an accepting home for kids looking to “find their people.” This program is life-changing for many.
In our very first Schools to Stage performance, in March of 2023, we presented a bilingual adaptation of Mother Goose that took place in a manufactured housing community. The performance resulted in squeals of laughter from the children, and tears of gratitude and happiness from the parents and teachers in the group. One teacher wrote to us to say:

“When the play began, I sat there wondering if you had been told about our student population and if you had written this play just for them. Exactly half of my students live in trailers, but are almost never represented in books or media. I was blown away when I realized that the setting was a trailer park and the main characters were bilingual. Thank you for writing such a thoughtful play, for choosing Spanish and for helping my students to see themselves on stage. This play was such a beautiful message. Thank you!!!!”
Help support children’s theatre education
The Schools to Stage Education and Outreach Program provides theatre experiences, workshops, and classes to local children through partnerships with their schools.
While theatre is a core academic subject for grades K-12, many schools cannot afford to offer dedicated classes during the school day. At a time when many Colorado schools have been forced to cut performing arts programs, this program fills an important educational need.
All expenses are covered through generous donations from Golden citizens, some proceeds from our regular children’s classes and shows, and support from the Downtown Development Authority.
We can’t do it without you. Please help us keep this life-changing program thriving in our community!
